Shred-It Donation Results 2019

Guardian Storage holds their annual Shred-It event!

Shred-It Donation Results

Each year, Guardian Storage holds free 3-hour Shred-It events as a thank you to our communities. This Spring, we held our 3-day events at our Pittsburgh and Colorado stores. We are blown away by the generosity of everyone who participated in the events. In Colorado, event participants were asked to bring voluntary donations for JWILL Pink Village, a nonprofit that provides support for those newly diagnosed with breast cancer. In Pittsburgh, participants were asked to bring voluntary donations for The Education Partnership, a nonprofit that provides essential school supplies to local children in need. After counting donations and delivering them to their respective nonprofits, we are happy to announce the results of our Shred-It events.

Colorado

We were so excited to expand our free Shred-It event to our Colorado stores this year. Over the course of the 3-day event, we had approximately 200 cars visit our stores to securely shred their documents. During the event, we collected fabric and monetary donations for JWILL Pink Village. Overall, we were able to collect about 2 medium boxes of fabric donations. Thanks to the generosity of our communities, we were also able to present JWILL Pink Village with a check for almost $600 to help support their mission. We are so incredibly humbled by the support of our local communities to help make our first Colorado Shred-It event such a success!

About JWILL Pink Village

JWill Pink Village is a nonprofit organization that brings comfort to those newly diagnosed with breast cancer. Through generous volunteers and donors, they sew and gift heart-shaped pillows to patients. These pillows soften the pressure of seat belts on the chest during car rides after a mastectomy.

Pittsburgh

We were equally excited to once again offer our free Shred-It event to our communities in Pittsburgh! Our stores saw well over 1,000 cars over the course of the 3-day event. During our Pittsburgh events, we collected school supplies and monetary donations for The Education Partnership. We were absolutely blown away by the generosity of our communities at our event. Our school supply donations completely filled up an entire moving truck! The school supplies alone were valued at a whopping $6,380. Teachers will be able to receive these supplies at The Education Partnership’s Teacher Resource Center. In addition to the school supplies, we collected $6,500 in monetary donations, which will allow The Education Partnership to purchase approximately $50,000 worth of school supplies through their partnerships and buying power.

About The Education Partnership

The Education Partnership is a nonprofit organization that uses donations from charitable partners and help from volunteers to bring school supplies to Pittsburgh-area children. Currently, they support 45,000 students in 110 local schools by providing them with the supplies they need to succeed. Since 2009, they have provided over $17.4 million in supplies to 130,000 local students.
