For economically challenged families, items like pencils and paper are often forced to the bottom of the list of necessities. But that leaves more than 80,000 school-age kids in the Greater Pittsburgh Area without access to the most basic supplies—things that enable them to participate in learning activities, complete their homework and feel like valuable members of the class.
We are proud to support The Education Partnership in their fight to bridge the gap between what students have and what they need to succeed in the classroom. We believe a good education is one of the best opportunities a child has to reach his or her potential.
Guardian Storage Adopts Two Schools
This year marks 4 years of Guardian Storage adopting local schools through The Education Partnership’s Adopt-a-School program. This year, we packed and distributed Power Tools Homework Kits to the students at Minadeo Elementary School and Urban Academy of Greater Pittsburgh. Through this program, we were able to provide essential school supplies to the students of both schools.
TEP currently serves 55,000 students and 4,500 teachers by providing school and classroom supplies. For a school to qualify, 70% or more of the students must qualify for the National Free or Reduced Lunch Program. There are 25,000 more students in our area that qualify but aren’t yet in the program because of funding needs.
