Guardian donates storage space to Toys for Tots program: As rivalries go, Antlers vs. Hats doesn't generate the ferocity of, say, Steelers vs. Ravens. But the two teams, one wearing decorative holiday antlers and the other in red Santa hats, had a friendly competition last week driven by a common purpose - to bring Christmas joy to the hears of underprivileged children.

An example is Guardian's donation of 4,000 square feet of "flex space" to the United State Marine Corps for the Toys for Tots program. The space is used as the main distribution and processing warehouse space where all of the toys that are collected throughout Allegheny Country will be delivered and processed.

One of the Strip District's largest buildings has been sold to one of Pittsburgh's fastest-growing businesses. A 120,000-square-foot former mattress factory at 2839 Liberty Ave. is under agreement to Storage Development Inc., a company owned by Steve Cohen, who also owns East Liberty-based Guardian Storage Solutions. Cohen signed a sales agreement for the property last week and will now undergo a due diligence period before closing on the purchase of the 100-year-old structure, which is comprised of three adjoining buildings.
